A Guide for Traveling to Utica, New York
Planes
Utica does not have scheduled commercial air service. Syracuse Hancock International Airport (SYR) is 56 miles west of Utica and is served by Air Canada, American Eagle, Delta, JetBlue, United, and USAirways. You can rent a car at the airport or take a short taxi ride to the Syracuse intermodal station for Amtrak or bus connections to Utica. According to internet sources a cab ride from the airport in Syracuse to the Amtrak station is $23 with a $19 fare to ride Amtrak or bus (see link below for bus fares and schedules) to Utica.

Albany International Airport (ALB) is 90 miles east of Utica and is served by Air Canada, Cape Air, Continental Express, Delta, Southwest, United, and US Airways. You can rent a car at the airport or make Amtrak or bus connections at Schenectady. The cab ride to the Amtrak station will run $36 and the Amtrak fare to Utica from Albany is $24 (see above link for bus fare and schedule). Trains
Utica is served by Amtrak's Empire and Lake Shore service that operate on the old New York Central mainline. The websites below will provide more information for the scheduled stops in Utica. Hotel Utica is about 6 blocks (1/2 mile) from Utica's 1914 Union Station. A short cab ride is suggested because there are some busy streets to negotiate.

Automobiles
Utica is about 240 miles from New York, 260 miles west of Boston, 200 miles east of Buffalo, 390 miles north of Washington, and 380 miles east of Cleveland. For major routes from different directions see below:
- From the east or west take Route 90 (New York State Thruway – toll road) and get off on exit 31 and look for Genesee Street and go south into Utica. Take a right on Lafayette Street and the Hotel Utica is a block away on the right.
- From the north take Route 81 south to Route 90 East and follow the directions above from there.
- From the south take Route 81to Syracuse to Route 90 East and follow the directions above. You can also take Route 81 and get off just above Binghamton on exit 6. Take a right onto Route 11 North and follow the signs to New York Route 12 North for a more leisurely and scenic route. Take a left on to Genesee Street that is one of the main streets in Utica and take a left on Lafayette Street. The Hotel Utica is a block away on the right.
The address for the Hotel Utica is 102 Lafayette Street, Utica, New York. You can use the address on MapQuest or Google Maps to find the best way for you to get there.
